About Me

My Photo
I am a teacher, fitness/yoga instructor, runner, celebrity stalker, chocolate lover, embarrassing dancer, wine guzzler, can't-live-without-my-girlfriends kind of girl. I also have a collection of high heels that strongly outweighs my collection of runners. My goal is to find balance in my life through health and exercise- and when I say balance, I mean kicking ass in the gym and enjoying food, wine, family, friends, and basking in celebrity news. Let's eat clean and do some craaahaaayzy workouts together... followed by a glass of wine.

DIY Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Energy Balls

Pin It I said it. I want balls.

Homemade, 5-ingredient, delicious protein energy balls, that is.

I made these by accident, actually- I won an amazing KitchenAid Food Processor from Happy or Hungry last month, and I was so excited to make my own energy bars that I bought all the ingredients early and thought it would be a good idea to use my blender instead.

Bad call. RIP, blender. Welcome, balls.

These taste way better than they look.
You'll need:

1. Pitted dates, broken apart by hand

Tip: buy dates packed in a container as opposed to a package, they tend to be softer and easier to work with!

2. Chocolate chips (my favourite part... natch) and 3. natural peanut butter

4. Slivered almonds

You wonder why my blender kicked it.
5. Chocolate protein powder

This stuff is RIDIC. No "protein-ey" taste. Your welcome for the technical term use.
You'll also need to be okay with getting down and dirty. And if you know anything about me, I'll make any sacrifice for my health.

Any sacrifice necessary.
Using about 3/4 of a container of dates, break up with your hands on a plate.

Shake slivered almonds so they sit on top of the dates lightly.

That's what she said.
Add 2-3 heaping spoonfuls of natural peanut butter, and protein powder so it covers the PB, dates and almonds.

Add your desired amount of chocolate chips.

Do not judge me.
Using your hands, mix all 5 ingredients until you get a smooth consistency.

Ah, you'll notice my blender is missing the top half. And, the chocolate chips are open.
Roll into balls and refrigerate overnight. This should give you between 12-16 balls (why can't I stop laughing every time I type that?). I've been eating two in the morning with greek yogurt or a smoothie for some quick energy!

Voila! Enjoy :)
