I realize this may be anti-climatic for some, but I have been mourning the loss of Count Chocula (no longer available in Canada) and seemingly every chocolate-flavoured cereal has gone off the shelves. So imagine my surprise when I was doing a regular late-night grocery shop (I love to go after my pump class!) standing in the checkout line, and I saw NEW! Chocolate Cheerios!
This is heaven on earth to me. I am usually starving when I get home from teaching at night, but have to refrain from eating a whole meal because it's usually 9-10pm when I get home! Then I struggle with having just a few pieces of chocolate. This is my problem! I love sweets, especially at night. I don't even think about sweets during the day.
This is progress. A 3/4 cup serving of chocolate Cheerios is a delicious 110 calories, less than 2g of fat, and 9g of sugar.
This is what 3/4 of a cup looks like! |
I know, I know... this isn't necessarily healthy. But I'm at least feeling satisfied with a single serving and a 1/2 cup of skim milk. And... it's better than chomping down on
Note to self: make amazing discoveries after showering. |
1. What is your vice?
C to the H to the O to the C to the O to the L to the A to the T to the E. My friends will attest- I can put back a ridiculous amount of this stuff, it's actually impressive (and embarrassing). This is why only 9 grams of sugar is like a workout to my body!
2. When do you grocery shop?
I LOVE to grocery shop. I usually do at night time- it's less busy, and if I go after my fitness classes then I feel more likely to pick healthy choices. I usually do the outside of the grocery store and only head down the aisles if I really need something! (Like chocolate).

I love love love chocolate cheerios. Upon first discovering the large boxes at Costco I easily went through four bags in an unhealthy amount of time!
Hahaha I saw those the other day too! I was like "Dean...pleeeeeeease?!" But we're on this "no processed foods" kick. I tried to convince him they weren't processed but when one of the first ingredients on the box was sugar...yeah it was a no-go (haha he's smarter than he looks).
Chocolate is my vice too, as you already know. I am also obsessed with tortilla chips with salsa and BBQ flavoured kettle chips. YUM!
I'm not so much a chocolate fan as a SUGAR fan. Just plain sugar. My cereal vice is cinnamon chex--it's covered in cinnamon and sugar and should really just be illegal.
I love grocery shopping, so I like to go whenever I have time!
I love dark chocolate! I always get a dark chocolate on the way out of the grocery store :) Which I love to go to! My husband hates going, I don't know why but I just love to grocery shop.

My vice for sure is chocolate... but usually just at night. Pretty recently I’ve had to implement a new rule re: treats and chocolate as things were getting dangerously out of control (i.e. found in a closet crying because I just ate a whole bag of chocolate covered cookies. Just kidding! But not really.) If any given treat is not at least 70% chocolate or more I am to put metaphorical packing tape over my mouth and walk away. It saves me from indulging in treats that I’m only lukewarm about so I can save myself for my one true love… chocolate. I’ll be honest: it doesn’t always work. More often than not, though, it does and I go to bed having not inhaled 700 jelly beans. Note to self: eating treats at a faster pace is not trying a new workout.
I, too, enjoy grocery shopping at night with Tuesday being my favourite day. Everything is fresh, not picked over and it’s usually not too busy. Not busy=fewer people to see me rationalizing the purchase of a chocolate bar the size of my torso. That’s the downside of shopping at night… I’m usually accompanied by my vice.
Oh my gosh I was SO happy the day I discovered Chocolate Cheerios (though I think Chocolate Life still takes the cake in my book).
I'm not sure I have any vices - there are things I THINK I couldn't live without but I'm sure I could if I tried hard enough. Closest thing though? Definitely coffee. I LOVE my coffee.
I grocery shop all the time because I'm kind of weirdly obsessed with grocery stores! Haha. I just love them so I'm always finding myself making trips. Probably not the best way to live on a budget! ;)
shout out to chocolate life...that stuff rocks too! katy, u make me laugh, i too mourned the semi-loss of count chocula, they have it here in the states but ONLY around halloweenie. :(
that said, i'm a big choc freak too but really just sweets in general. i have a few more little choc finds that u might enjoy if u guys have it up there: Barbara's Bakery Cocoa Bumpers Cereal, Annie's Chocolate Bunny Cookies (think like teddy-grahams but they're organic/healthified and shaped like rabbits), and Vita Muffins. There are tons of different vita muffin flavors and loads of chocolate ones with only 100 cal's each. i like them, but steer clear of the sugar-free ones or at least in mass consumption; i ate 8 one night and the next morning's run was EXTRA 'runny.'
I am tooooooootally going to buy Chocolate Cheerios tomorrow. And I'm right there with you on the chocolate addiction. I can't keep it in my house or else I'll scarf it down!! It's bad. Maybe the Choco Cherri's will curb my addiction??
HAHAHAHA these are the best comments yet!!! I'll be sure to scarf some CCC for all of you (except you, Christina!) and I'll also be sure to not have any sugar-free Vitamuffins! We have them here but not the other things!
I don't drink coffee but sometimes I wish I did- it seems like a somewhat healthier vice than the sugar-laden treats I am drawn to!
